I've become THAT mom...

bumGenius 4.0 - quickly becoming my favorite!!

So my poor little Peanut has had diaper issues since birth.  He pees through every kind at night and has terrible eczema and diaper rash from the plastic rubbing against his skin.  So last week I decided to try a cloth diaper at night to see if I could keep the leaks in.  Well. the next morning not only was he dry, but the diaper rash and eczema were seriously reduced!!!  I became hooked.  I talked to some mommy friends who use cloth and started doing research and now I am a full on cloth diaper convert!!  Not only has his rash completely cleared up, but his tush has never looked cuter - cloth diapers are a great fashion accessory!! :)

I never even considered using cloth diapers before.  I heard horror stories of my MIL boiling huge rolls of gauze on the stove and it pretty much turned me off but now the diapers are so easy!   They even have ones with flushable inserts!!  Yea - I am way too excited about this.  My sister's pretty sure I've lost my mind, but there is nothing better than having a baby with a rash free (and trendy!) tush. :)

Bittersweet

Today is a very bittersweet day for me.  I just finished drafting my resignation letter for the job I have been at and loved since 2004.  Even though I have been thinking about leaving since I first held my son in my arms, it only became real when I began typing.  Through my job I met two of my best friends, worked with super talented musicians, and had amazing students.  I loved my job so much which is not something everyone can say.  However, with my husband's crazy work schedule, I know that at this point in our lives, the most important thing is for my son to have one parent at home and I do love my new job of housewife and mommy.

Phew - ok, thank you for letting me get that off my chest *wipe away a tear*.

Now, onto my outfit-
Tee - Target, Jeans, GAP, Shoes - Shoe Dazzle, Bangles - Coach

It's basically a tee shirt and jeans, but the rose print and red heels make it a bit more girly.

Check out the cutie patootie in the background!  He's rocking his Yankees track suit. :)

An amazing party

Sorry for the short break everyone!  It was such a crazy week getting ready for my first big party as event planner of my mommy group!  We had a great turnout with around 500 people showing up.  We had a face painter, magician, two performers and lots of activities!!

Real women use power tools. :)  Here I am putting together the pillow jump!

All set for the kids to arrive!

Our Twinkle Tunnel which had lights on the inside that looked like the stars

Taking a quick break to show Peanut around - look how big he's getting!

I got lots of positive feedback which made me SOO happy!  After all that hard work I had my fingers crossed that everyone would love the results!

Peanut's favorite part?  Chewing on the maraca that our performer gave him!   He also loved the magician, who gave Peanut some extra special attention.  It pays to know the host. :)

The sweetest sound

Yesterday was an amazing day.  At first I thought it would be great because it was a holiday and my husband was off work, but then something even better happened:

My son said "Mama".

I have never heard anything sweeter in my life.

Cardi and top - gift from MIL, Skirt - Express, Tights - HUE,
Shoes - MJM warehouse, Leg in left corner - Peanut ;)

Yes, I know that he probably doesn't know what it means, but that's ok with me.  I now know what that sweet little voice sounds like when it calls my name. :)

Plus, I was getting real tired of him only saying Dada all the time!!  lol

I wore this outfit out to dinner.  I love that my old clothes are fitting again - it's like getting a whole new wardrobe!  I last wore this skirt here and am finding that it is quickly becoming one of my favorites, which is funny because I think I wore it once in the years I had it before I got pregnant!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!

Finally, after a week of celebration, my 30th birthday is finally here!! YEA!  Today we went to my favorite jewelry store, Judith Ripka to pick out my birthday present and then to this really fun restaurant called Flip in the Bloomingdales on 3rd.  I was so happy my husband was able to take off work to spend the day with Peanut and me.  We had a blast together!!

I leave you now with a pic of the best present ever - PEANUT!!  I'll be back tomorrow to catch up with everyone - hope you all are having a great day!!

Day 14 - Sunday Funday!

Added accessories: Bracelets - Pandora

Did everyone have a good Sunday?  I did!  Today my sisters came over for brunch which is always a good time.  Good food, good mimosas and lots of playtime with Peanut!!  I know I have said this before, but I am SO lucky to have two sisters that are so close in age to me.  It's like having built-in friends (who have to love you no matter what! lol).  My sister Katie (the one we call Tia) is a preschool teacher and she was sharing stories with us about potty training... let me tell you folks, I am NOT looking forward to potty training a boy!!

So I decided to work the colored tights today.  I love that tights are not included in the 30 for 30 challenge.  They really can transform an outfit!  I feel like I could wear just the sweater with the skirt, black tights and my green boots and the outfit would have a completely different feel.  Hmm... I think I may try that look this week! :)

Well, I am off to play with the nut a little more before his bedtime.  He is so much fun now!  No more little blob.  Now he's a little man!

I will leave you now with a recap of my week.  Have any favorites?

Back to mommyland

While my hubby will be around this weekend to take some more pics outside, for today, it's back to Peanut's room.
Blazer - Rachel Roy, Vest - Brooks Brothers, Tee - LOFT, Jeans - GAP,
Shoes - Shoedazzle, Scarf - Modcloth

But really, isn't that the reality of motherhood?  You spend most of your time in the nursery.
And to be honest, there is nowhere in the world I would rather be.  Notice how Peanut's bathrobe made it in the pic.  Isn't it cute?  It's a ducky robe! :)  As you can see, I'm looking down on my son here - he had just chucked Sophie the Giraffe across the bed - this kid has quite an arm!!
All bundled up and ready to go.  Where to, you ask?  To Target baby!  Then it's back home for some light housework, laundry and then Tia and my inlaws are coming for dinner!
What can I say?  I live a glamorous life. :)
But you know what?  I wouldn't trade it for anything!
This closeup's for you, Style Underdog! :)

I love you Dr. Ferber

So my son went 10 nights in a row without sleeping.  He went from 9 hours a night to 20 minutes at a time!!  He has been teething so he just wanted to be held ALL THE TIME!  Needless to say, Peanut and I were very cranky!!  My poor husband. :)
At the end of my rope, I uploaded (thank you Amazon!) the book Solve your child's sleep problems by Dr. Ferber, which involves letting the baby cry at scheduled intervals when put down in the crib and you go in and reassure the baby periodically.  Well, I tried it Sunday night, and it was a bit tough, but I stood strong and he slept for about 2 hours at a time.  Last night?  He went right down with no fussing at all!!!!  Unbelievable.  I was so happy - not to mention well rested!  And now tonight  - sleeping like a baby (pun intended!)

These pics were taken Sunday night when I was on my last drop of sanity.  I even had to sit down for one. ;)

Tank - Tucker for Target, Cardi - Ann Taylor, Jeans - Gap, Shoes - Marc Fischer,
 Scarf - Shoe Dazzle, Rings - F21

Look!  My Hubby put up my shelves!  Our new apartment's looking more like home each day. :)
