This should have automatically posted last night before my week in review... LOL ah, the best laid plans.....
I wanted to thank you all for the SUPER AMAZING response to Friday's positive self image post! It's always important to take the time to remind ourselves that it truly is what's on the inside that counts!!!
As I was taking my pictures makeup and hair product free, my thoughts first turned to my son (and hopefully future children) and how I want to always be a positive role model for them. While I do believe that we should always present our best self to the world, I think it's even more important to nurture our inner beauty. I never want my child to hear me say anything negative about myself because as we all know, children learn by example!
Then I started thinking bigger - how amazing would it be if my readers and fellow bloggers could show the world their inner beauty?
Each Friday, I would like to end the week with a feel good post titled My Gal/Guy Friday, where I will be interviewing a reader on the things that make them special. What non physical traits make you unique? Was there a physical trait that you used to hate that you now realize makes you shine? What characteristics do you look for in others? What makes you happy? What do you love most about yourself?
Finally, a picture of the featured reader in all their makeup free (or as makeup free as you are comfortable with! Baby steps ;) ) and natural haired glory.
Let's show the world that we are all beautiful - both inside and out.

Ooooh I wanna play!!
ReplyDeleteMe too! I am going to email you. This is such a neat idea :)
ReplyDeleteCount me in. I totally relate to you about setting an example to our children and especially if you have any girls (I think everyone would agree that we females are more harsh on ourselves about appearance than males). Although I struggle with weight my very strict rule is NEVER EVER to express ANY concern about it in front of my daughter. My own Mom struggled with weight and always felt really unhappy about it. This is my personal battle and my daughter does not need to be involved in it at all.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kelly again for your positive self image post and for coming up with My Gal/Guy idea. Look forward reading everyone's responses.
xx

Me??? UHM...no. But now you have put out a challenge and I cannot refuse ANY challenge. Fine, I will go Face Naked! My daughter is 8 and this will be good for her also. I always tell her true beauty lies within and shines outward. I guess it is time to show and not just tell. Besides, who doesn't need a good laugh?
