Why is it that we are our own worst critics? Lately I have been hearing and reading a lot about people who feel that they are not thin/tall/short/curvy/pretty/good enough. Well, I am here to tell you that you are perfect just the way you are.
We should celebrate our uniqueness, not put ourselves down! Sure, you could lose weight or wear more makeup, even get plastic surgery, but will that change who you are as a person? Will it ultimately make you happier?
Today, look in the mirror and point out three things that you love about yourself. Everything about you makes you who you are. Someone that is special, unique and loved.
In honor of this, I have decided to post my picture today with no makeup and with my natural hair texture. This is me - Mommy, wife, sister, daughter, friend. And you know what? It took almost 30 years to say this, but I'm happy just the way I am. :)
Added accessories: Jess LC earrings, Tori Spelling necklace
Starting next Friday, I will begin a new series called "My Gal(or Guy!) Friday", where each week I will be highlighting one of my wonderful readers and all the things that make them special! :)
Time to spread the self love!
What a great message! And yes you truly are beautiful just the way you are!! I think sometimes this whole fashion blogging thing can bring out new insecurities because there's so many people to compare ourselves to, and we see blogs that are more popular, and we ask ourself what do they have that I don't...and ugh..it's vicious!!
ReplyDeleteA great post. Thank you for reminding me. We all need to celebrate ourselves a little more.
ReplyDeleteAwesome post and message that I greatly needed this week! So thank you!
ReplyDeleteAnd you look great without makeup and I love your natural hair. I don't do alot to my hair anyway. I wash it, dry it and go. Thanks to Lise's awesome stylist skills, I don't need to do anymore to it!

You are gorgeous! I am going to have to follow your lead and do something like this next week! You seem to have both inner and outer beauty! Yay for the 2 for 1 combo!

What a great post--I think we all need to be reminded to look at ourselves less critically. I really think being a part of the blogging world has helped me with this--seeing and being inspired by women of all shapes, sizes and ages has a more positive effect on my self-image than tv and magazines ever did! And by the way, you look beautiful in this picture, no makeup and all!!
ReplyDeleteGreat post!

Sometimes we need to read something like this to remind ourselves. Nice post.
ReplyDeleteI agree with all the other commenters-- such a great message. I watch a lot of YouTube makeup tuts, & some of the girls will not be seen without their foundation, apologizing for looking "so bad", as if their bare faces are offensive to their viewers. However, some of the ladies on there, particularly the British makeup artists, never apologize for their beautiful, makeup-less faces, & they have basically taught me what you've said in this post.
ReplyDeleteNot only are you lovely on the outside, but also so lovely on the inside. Thank you for sharing!
I love this post! You look beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for stopping by my blog and following. I can't wait to see your my gal/guy friday.
Kelly you look so real in this photo. It's your inner beauty that shines through! You are right we have to accept ourselves the way we are and take it from there to the next level! Then, there is nothing we can't do!!!
ReplyDeleteI love this post! and you look gorgeous! and now I like you on Facebook too :)
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to your new blog feature...and btw...you look FAB without makeup....love the post.....its true, we are our own worst critics!!

thanks for this post. I'm 7 1/2 months pregnant and feeling not so cute. But this post reminded me to be happy and feel blessed about my new shape--being pregnant is an amazing miracle and there is a reason that my belly is so big, right! I am growing a baby after all!
ReplyDeleteAnd you look awesome--You should submit this picture to TheBeautyBean. They have a series called "Make-up Free Mondays" and they encourage women to embrace their natural beauty--you definitely have that down!
What a great post. Thanks for doing this. And you look amazing with no make-up.
ReplyDeletesuch an uplifting post :) we all need a boost sometimes! so cool that you're doing 30 for 30, so is my little sister! her blog is shortandsweetelyse.blogspot.com :)

I love this. What a great message to send and an important reminder that we ARE perfect just the way we are.
ReplyDeletePS: You are beautiful without makeup and completely carefree :)
What a wonderful post! I think this was something that really needed to be said. As fashion/ daily outfit bloggers looking at pictures of ourselves everyday I think many of us can fall into the trap of becoming more and more critical of ourselves. And I know personally that I need to be reminded to snap out of it!
ReplyDeleteFor the record, you have great skin and I love the texture of your hair. You have the fun little flip that so many girls try to get using products.
Great post! So true, my SIL is also my life coach and my "assignment" as of late is to look at myself in the mirror and say "I love you" - it's harder than it seems. But really shouldn't we do this every day? BTW - you look amazing. I can't wait for this new series!
ReplyDeletegreat message here. you look pretty damn good au naturale!
